Which Format Should I Choose?
| Format | Best for | Example input |
|---|---|---|
| CODE128 | General text, mixed alphanumeric data, internal tracking codes | SKU-8841-A |
| EAN13 | Retail products sold in Europe/international markets | 5901234123457 |
| UPC | Retail products sold in the US/Canada | 036000291452 |
| CODE39 | Logistics, inventory, industrial & automotive labeling | ABC-12345 |
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Using letters with EAN13 or UPC — these formats are numeric-only with a required digit count.
- Printing a barcode too small — under 1 inch (2.5cm) wide often fails to scan reliably.
- Forgetting the checksum digit on EAN13/UPC — most product codes already include it; don't add an extra one.
- Using low print contrast — a barcode printed in light grey or on a busy background may not scan.
Note: this tool generates barcodes for labeling and internal use. If you're listing products with a retailer or marketplace, confirm you're using an officially assigned EAN/UPC number from GS1 — reusing an arbitrary number can cause listing conflicts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, completely free with no sign-up, no watermark, and no usage limit.
CODE128 works for general text and mixed alphanumeric data. EAN13 and UPC are for retail products and require a specific digit count with a valid checksum. CODE39 is common in logistics and inventory.
Yes. Download the PNG and print at a size large enough for reliable scanning — at least 1 inch (2.5cm) wide is a safe starting point.
No, the barcode is generated entirely in your browser using JavaScript — nothing you type is sent to a server.
EAN13 requires exactly 12–13 digits and UPC requires 11–12 digits, each with a valid checksum. Letters or an incorrect digit count will cause an error — try CODE128 if you just need a general-purpose barcode.
